LESSON We went over King and Pawn vs King endings learning about opposition, distant opposition, and diagonal opposition. TOURNAMENT There is a tournament this coming weekend. LESSON We learned how to stop a pawn from queening (K vs K & P) 1. Get your king in the "safety zone" 2. When you have to leave the "safety zone" step into the square of opposition. We learned how to queen a pawn (K and P vs K) 1. Get your king in front of your pawn 2. Move your king into the square of opposition 3. Get your King to the 6th rank. If you can achieve 2 of the three goals listed above, you can queen your pawn, If you advance your pawn to the 7th rank with check, it will result in a stalemate.
